Houston House & Home magazine published a wonderful article about The White House on the Hill, a soulfully designed bed and breakfast near Round Top, Texas, meant to be a retreat for only one or two guests. Beautifully written by Marsha Canright, the piece features wonderful photography by Natalie Lacy Lange. We’re thrilled to be included in the article, the shout-out for our down bedding and luxury linens music to our ears!
“High atop a grassy hill overlooking the pastoral fields of Washington County,” Canright notes, “a steepled structure rises from a rolling grove of olive trees and strikes a vivid silhouette against the wide blue sky.” If the photos hadn’t already enticed us, her lovely language would certainly have charmed us into wanting to be there! Designed and built by Rob Rosenbaum and Linda O’Neal in 2014, you’d never know it’s so new because the couple took great pains to source reclaimed materials so that the retreat’s surroundings would have a time-honored patina.
O’Neal says, “The rolling hills are wonderful for walking, and we have incredible sunsets.” That’s because Rosenbaum has planted fruit orchards, crepe myrtle, cedar, cottonwoods and sycamores, in addition to the olive grove. Can you imagine awaking in the comfort of our bedding to scenes as inviting as this? New Yorker Amanda Sawyer can, as she is quoted in the article as saying, “It’s so romantic and private. It’s a true retreat from our busy life.”
